Decompression Bomb

Greetings. i scanned my computer using AVAST! and it reported a file that it was unable to scan a file → Unable to scan: This file is a decompression bomb. The location of the file is:

C:Users/Bing/Appdata/Local/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/su9i8djz/.default/cache/FBD8031d01/{gzip}

I need information on this file. Is this a virus? If it is, how can I get rid of it? Thank you very much!

Decompression Bomb, a file that is highly compressed, which could be very large when decompressed. This used to be a tactic long ago to swamp the system, also see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=15389.msg131213#msg131213.

The name really is the most dangerous thing about this and I wish they would change it or simply not report it, a real PITA.

Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.

dude, i had this problem too, it came up with the same msg that the file is a compression bomb, and je i had a lot of these files, though most of them are games, is it ok that i don’t delete them? thanks. ::slight_smile:
