Deewomz and Yebector.B found on my system

I ran a program named “Microsoft Safety Scan” and it reported that the subject virus/malware programs were found and “partially removed.” I couldn’t find much about either of these and I was concerned that AVAST had not found them.

If someone knows about these nasties would you let me know where I can find removal information as I don’t have a warm fuzzy for when MS reports “partially removed.”

Thanks, Jim

What were the file names and location of these detections ?

Pondus, I did download and run the malwarebyte program and it just finished and did not discover any malware. Therefore, I’m thinking the tool that reported ‘partially removed’ removed enough to render the malware inoperable and undectable. Thank You for the guidance.

DavidR, “I don’t know,” he said with a embarrased look on his face. I can not find any log file to check FWIW. :-[

I believe the problem has been resolved but just can’t swear to it.

I appreciate y’all taking the time to help.

Regards…

I’m always suspicious of software (even that of MS) that doesn’t have logs as there is essentially no way you can check the validity of the detection.

I also tend not to allow anything to take deletion action (as you have no choice remaining) without having first obtained supportive confirmation, e.g. on the likes of https://www.virustotal.com/, an on-line multi engine virus scanner that you upload the suspect file to for scanning.analysis.

Given that MBAM also didn’t find any of the so called remnants, I have doubts to the original detection.
