default ping at shutdown & restart

Hi all,
I hear the default ping at shutdown & restart, like an error is about to pop-up. Can anyone please tell me what this could be ?
I just installed xp and hope its secure.
Here’s my net connections, hope it can help.

It can be a lot. Without knowing more it is almost impossible to tell what it is.
HAv a look in XP’s log file, it may tell us more.
