Default settings question

I am thinking of running a boot-time scan (I never have before) with avast! 7 free. I clicked on “settings” to see what they are. I noticed scan for PUPs was checked. Can someone please tell me if that is a default setting? Personally I don’t usually adjust security software from it’s out-of-the-box settings as I’ve read here on the forum that this can create problems, however it is possible that someone else who used my computer did go in and check it. If it is not a default setting I’ll un-check it. Thanks in advance.

It is default setting in the boot time scan.

I’ll also mention that unless your recieving problems or avast has asked you to run a boot scan then you shouldn’t bother.

Thanks DJbone and craigb.

Craigb - OK I won’t if it isn’t recommended - I am just curious as to why that is?

Added risks if it isnt neccessary.

You’re welcome!
