this is only a suggestion, i wish they can update avast! 4.8 removing the skin but having the new GUI from avast! 5 so we(non user of VM) can get used to it until we reached the release of v5 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Did you read? Will not be a 4.9 version. There is 5.0 beta already. If you want you can test it.
The GUI is fully integrated in the new avast 5.
It’s impossible to get it working with avast 4.8.
I think the beta needs more work…

i know i know that there is no v4.9 and v5 beta is release now i was just telling that, if they “CAN” update 4.8 having the GUI of v5 coz having v5 to pipol who dont know and who cant use vmware cant try avast v5 beta(too risky) so if they can update 4.8 (example: 4.81123 to 4.81124) then change the GUI like the GUI of avast 5 so we can get use to it… coz it will surely take a long time to release avast 5 (and i believe that it will not be on October even it was say so) and we(non users of vmware) cant experience the beautiful GUI of avast 5 in an early time… like NOW. hmm… sorry this comment is so long… ;D
I don’t think avast will hav time enough to work on two versions of the program at the same time…

They won’t. Maybe only virus definitions and other must-have features will be updated in both versions.
Of course, only version 5 will stay in development.

remember when they said the release of beta should be during the year 2007/08? (i think) but still they release it this 2009…
Do you think that 4.8 which has been running side by side with v5 will be still running by this time?
I think, that 4.x will continue on for some time, not sure how long though.
My registration expires on 1st October 2010, so with any luck 4.x will continue for a little while after that, here’s hoping.
If it does I wonder if the new free registration licences will show the expiration dates as being after October 2010
