Delaying Avast on Startup

Hi. Under what menu is the setting ‘Delay Avast on Startup until other services load’ or something like that located? I did this once on Avast 5 but can’t seem to find it in Avast 7. Maybe I’m not looking hard enogh. thanks.

You can access those options via settings / troubleshooting

Why did you do this/need to do it again as it is a troubleshooting option, where a service that avast requires hasn’t yet loaded.

Generally this will only shave fractions of a second off the boot, so what problems are you experiencing on boot ?

thanks for the replies fellas. davidR, i’m not experiencing any problems. i just thought it would be better until all programs on startup would load first before avast loads. is delaying avast’s startup not adviseable?

edit: i just read in another thread that i might be leaving myself open to malware attacks before avast loads. makes sense.

It doesn’t wait for all programs on startup, it is specific in what it does, “Load avast! services only after other system services.”

So the key it isn’t for all programs on startup but after only the system services, which as I said would only delay by fractions of a second. Plus the last thing you would want to do is delay avast until other programs on startup as there would effectively be nothing to stop malware that starts on boot.

But it doesn’t do what you were hoping/thinking and as such shouldn’t be leaving your self more open to malware even if you did select it. So not much point in that as it doesn’t do what you thought and as you say you’re not experiencing any problems.
