Delete or empty log.db

Hi there!
Thanks in advance for your help.-
I am having quite a problem with system disk free space, don’t know why it’s always disapearing. Thing is I ran one app to see used spac and avast log.db is almost 3GB in space ! :stuck_out_tongue:
So, I’m guessing if it’s possible to delete it, or keep it smaller. Tried in the avast main program interface, but seem not to find an option to that.-
I’m using 2015.10.0.2208 by the way.-

Thanks again, and regards to everyone!

Update to the latest version: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=173591.0

I’ll give i t a try, thanks! Does the new version delete that file?

You’re welcome. Let us know…

Hi again!
Say, I’ve updated the program(it’s now 10.3.2223) and it’s still the same, that file log.db is almos 3gb large, and has not changed…
I’d like to be able to erase it, or shrink it, but don’t know if it’s either necessary for avast to work or for the sake of virus definitions or what. I’ll welcome further advice.-

Thanks!

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?

:stuck_out_tongue: Hehe, apologies. Free avast, running on windows 7 Ultimate, no other security soft installed.-
File is:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\Log.db

Regards!

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
