i just downloaded SMF and installed it. all that would be required to delete the asian porn spam would be to run a SQL statement like this against the database:
delete from smf_instant_messages where fromName = ‘EdwardN’
That would work, but is ineffective as it targets one spammer, who could go on to register again and spam under a different name as has happened I suspect with JessicaA, etc. Action has been taken to block all drive by PM spamming across the board, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24203.0.
And here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24217.0 which has globally disabled all PMs temporarily or permanent we will have to see.
i understand that doesn’t fix the problem, but it will delete the spam.
