deleted folder recovery

I had a virus that shows folders as .exe and avast detected it. Then i run a boot-time scan and it started to detect infected folders.and i chosed “delete whatever u detect” stmg like that. But, unfortunately some important files for me is infected and avast deleted them too. Then i couldnt find the deleted folders in my local disc. But when i run scan (both boot-time and normal) again avast is still checking the same deleted folders that shouldnt be there. Also the free space of my disc didnt change. So i hope those folders are still somewhere in my disc. I want to ask how can i recover those deleted folders?
I use xp pro, my comp:p4 1.7ghz 256mb, i downloaded avast-home in september, deleted folders were in D:/ . i am not using any other antivirus program.

Delete is not the suggested action. You’ll remove the files/folders unconditionally.
You should have opted to ‘move to Chest’ or to ‘moved’ folder (\Data\moved).

There is a minimall possibility of recovering them using recover tools like Recuva (http://www.recuva.com/).

Did you try a system restore, even bringing back the infected files/folder and then running avast at boot time and moving the files to Chest?
