Hello There,
I’ve got a problem with a file that was created by Avast in the System Volume Information folder.
I uninstalled Avast some day ago, and I saw that this file wasn’t deleted at all ! It takes 5GB disk space for nothing.
System Restore is disabled, and I can’t manually delete the file …
Do you have any suggestion ?
Thanks a lot !
Regards

did that work?

When you try to delete this restore point - what error message you you get ?
You should be able to clear system restore points, but you may first have to enable system restore.
– Create Clean Restore Point - Clear old Restore Points.
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System tools, System Restore.
In the pop-up that appears fill in the radio button to Create a Restore Point
Click NEXT
Enter a useful name that you will remember if you need to find this again (Clean Restore Point)
Click CREATE
You now have a clean restore point, you should clear the old ones:
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System tools, Disk Clean Up
Click OK on the C: drive
Click the More Options tab
In the System Restore section click the Clean Up button
You could also use a program called Restore Point Creator .
It allows you to create restore points and also remove (Selected) restore points.

Did you try @DavidR suggestion ?..seems a easy way to fix.
Maybe the file is “locked”.
Try this util…it may allow you to delete but at min will tell you what is locking it.

fan of this program decided to put together a video demonstrating the usage of this program.
@bob1360 …you are everywhere…familiar voice on the video.
@ huhuhu
My pleasure glad the problem is solved.
@ thekochs
As you know, I enjoy making instructional videos especially for programs I use and like,
that includes Avast.
And they are very handy. I know because at times I have used them.
Thank you Bob! 8) 8) 8)
Now I know that at least 2 forum members look at them.
(Only kidding)

@ bob3160 …BTW I like the Restore Point Creator program…very cool, very handy.
I’ve used this in past and put in my Windows Scheduler for daily SR point creation.

As FYI, I am a BIG fan of CCleaner…only one of these type programs I trust (sorry Avast).
Anyway, the new version 5.x has a System Restore section to delete individual points.
I just use the FREE version and turn off monitoring.
I just right click my Recycle Bin daily and run CCleaner instead of Empty Bin.
