Deleting scheduled scans

I have Avast AV which self converted to home edition on the expiry of the trial period. There was a scheduled scan which got incorporated during the conversion.

I now find that this scan slows the computer to a crawl everytime it runs and I want to delete it, but I can not see anyway of doing so. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

David

Scheduled scanning only works with the Pro version, so I’m not sure how this got carried over, it shouldn’t work.

Have you registered the software for the Home version and entered the registration key?
If not visit avast! 4 Home Registration.

You could also check windows scheduler and see if there is an entry there.

If the worst comes to the worst, you could also download the latest Home version, uninstall the existing installation, reboot install and enter you new Home registration key.

That is what I thought but it happens.

It is registered

Nothing in the Windows scheduler

I am beginning to think a re-install is the only way to go.
I thought that maybe there was something in the ini file but cannot see anything relevant there

Try a repair of avast first. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.

Well, it seems it’s really an omission. The Home version still executes the scheduled scan, but doesn’t make it possible to delete it anymore.

I’m afraid the record is not written in any ini file, but rather in the .mdb database - which might be hard to edit. If you can stand another week (when the next update should be released), maybe Vlk would be able to fix the problem.

Thanks All

I have run the repair so will see what happens next week.

The repair had no effect so uninstalled and re-installed again.

It totally takes hold of the machine preventing anything from running before several minute pauses. The applet in question is Ashserve.exe.

Hopefully now I will have lost the old schedule.

Will it help?
