I downloaded some skins and have decided not to use a couple and would like to delete them. I first tried to delete the skin’s .asws file from the skins folder, but got an error message telling me that I need permission to delete the file. I next used the add/remove program function, selected “change” and unchecked the “skins” block as was recommended in a post on this subject from last year. However, I still get the same error message when I try to delete any skin file. I’m only trying to remove ones that I downloaded, not either of the two that came pre-installed. Can anyone tell me how to do that? I am logged in as administrator, my OS is 64 bit Vista home Premium, and Avast is v.4.8 Home. Thanks for any help.
You are bumping into the avast self-defence module.
Program Settings, Troubleshooting, Disable avast! self-defence module. Then you should be able to remove the ones you don’t want. Obviously there are some of the default ones you can’t remove, there is a low resolution one that I don’t believe you can delete. Enable the self-defence again once you have done.
DavidR,
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice. I wouldn’t have thought to do that in a million years.
