I scan frequently for Ad-Ware using Ad-Aware suggested by Kim Komando, who also suggests your software. When I am scanning on one of my computers AVAST always finds some trojans and worms. I request they be deleted, but sure enough when it scans again they show up again. Why? The path each time appears to be the same although I have not really analyzed it. Also, I cannot fill out the online form for Avast because the message box is in the way and I cannot close it. I just yupgraded to Professional edition. Will this change anything? Many thanks… :
The path may appear to be the same but we couldn’t possibly comment, you don’t state the location nor:
- What OS are you using? is it up to date?
- What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0436-4 (see about avast!)
- What was the virus name, what was the filename, where was it found
example (C:\windows\system32\infected-filename.xxx)? - What actions have you taken to try and resolve the problem?
If you asked for something to be delete, if avast couldn’t delete it you will be told in the form of an error message. So you are being re-infected.
The Pro and Home versions have the same detection engine and virus pattern signature file, however the Pro version has other functionality and is more flexibility. So there wouldn’t be a real difference to avast’s HDD scans.
If something is detected they I would say there is no need to fill out the on-line form. In any case you should be able to drag a message box out of the way (you would probably have to close the on-line form first).
Edit: Deletion is never the best first action, if a file has been identified incorrectly it’s gone, not good. Move to the Chest is the better option and investigate.
After answering David’s question, just to mention that the hability of cleaning (deleting, moving to Chest, etc.) is the same in Home and Professional version.
