deletion

Hi

Whenever Avast finds a virus it tells me. Thanks very much!
However, when I want to run the antivirus on a regular basis I have to sit inb front of the computer the whole time 'cos if it finds a virus it tells me and then waits for instruction. I would like it to move the item to the chest autiomatically then I can delete everything in the chest later. That way I can set my antivrus to run overnight without sitting there staring at the screen.
I am probably ignorant of something but could anyone point me in the right direction.
I have the Version 4 home edition.

Incidentally I have to say thanks to Avast - it is the best anti virus proggy I have found and I have tried a few.

No you don't have to (as is explained many times before on this board)

With the home version you can use the taskschedular from Windows to schedule scans.

The Pro version has more options, including one to shedule tasks and extended options on what to do if something is find.

ps: Questions like this have been asked and asnwered before on this board. Please use the search option before asking.

Thanks Eddy. I did research the question which was not how to schedule but:

How to automatically move an item to the chest rather than notify me each time,?

I will read all the replies you suggested but the above still remains my main question.

With the home version you can only set Avast to run in silent mode.

You need the Pro version for more options.

Silent Mode:

Left click the ‘a’ blue icon.
It will start On-access protection

Click on Internet Mail and then on Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and select Silent Mode and the default answer No. This will send the file (email) to Chest.

Do the same for the and Outlook/Exchange plugin.
The answer Yes in Silent Mode keeps the virus in the file or into the message (attach) and continue the scanning. You can’t configure ‘delete the infected file’ in the Home version.

You can do the same for Standard Shield provider, but it won’t be a good idea…

Thank you all - I’ll try everything.
