Dell Computer Recovery Disks Acquisition

Sooo … out of the blue, my oldest niece surprised me yesterday by giving me a Dell GX270 Computer and an NEC MultiSync LCD 1860NX Monitor. She got both of them at an auction at the bank where she works for $10.00. :o So yeah, they’re used, but of course NEWER than the equipment I have now.

Well, of course, I was able to quickly hook up the NEC LCD Monitor and that’s working great. YES!
The computer, which has 1 Gig of RAM vs. my current HP Pavilion’s 256 Meg or RAM ;D … and a 40 Gig Hard Drive vs. my HP Pavilion’s 10 Gig … will have to wait a bit before I can fire it up.

The computer’s Hard Drive was of course Wiped Out. Grrrrr! DOH!
I was informed that I have to call Dell to acquire the Recovery CD.
Anyone have the Phone Number and / or E-mail Address of where exactly I’m supposed to contact Dell for this Recovery CD purpose?
How much does this cost?

Not sure but you could start here i suppose http://support.dell.com/

Direct number for Dell US solution centre Call: 1-866-930-3355

Hello Chim,
This should lead you to the right place:

Good Luck

Heck, even if you don’t get recovery disks it will still make a good candidate for a Linux distro.

Thanks, Craig … Bob!
I’ll look into this and hopefully sometime in the near future I can play with MORE POWER!

RNfromTN … if I only had a dollar for every time that a couple of friends over at the MyOpera Community have tried to get me to switch to Linux. ;D

I don’t want to go through THAT much hassle.
I want to be able to use ALL the Apps that I use now.
I don’t want to have to be looking for Linux equivalents.
I don’t want to have to be using Wine or whatever for TRYING to install Windows Apps, which then end up with questionable functionality.

Your welcome hope you get the discs soon.

For US customers only :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, that’s where Chim lives.

I know… Just complaining of Dell… By the way, a new Dell will arrive to me next days…

I took a look at the Dell Support section in their website as per the link.
I saw the 1st page of the form one has to fill out.

Sooo, to reiterate … anyone know how much the Backup Disks cost?
Are we talking $10.00 … $20.00 … $50.00 … or more?

I imagine that if you follow their procedure, somewhere along the process
it will let you know how much. ;D

That’s true, Bob.
As long as it doesn’t say at the end, “You either proceed … or it’ll cost you $50.00 to exit this process.” :o ;D Okay, I’ll eventually find out.
