Sooo … out of the blue, my oldest niece surprised me yesterday by giving me a Dell GX270 Computer and an NEC MultiSync LCD 1860NX Monitor. She got both of them at an auction at the bank where she works for $10.00. :o So yeah, they’re used, but of course NEWER than the equipment I have now.
Well, of course, I was able to quickly hook up the NEC LCD Monitor and that’s working great. YES!
The computer, which has 1 Gig of RAM vs. my current HP Pavilion’s 256 Meg or RAM ;D … and a 40 Gig Hard Drive vs. my HP Pavilion’s 10 Gig … will have to wait a bit before I can fire it up.
The computer’s Hard Drive was of course Wiped Out. Grrrrr! DOH!
I was informed that I have to call Dell to acquire the Recovery CD.
Anyone have the Phone Number and / or E-mail Address of where exactly I’m supposed to contact Dell for this Recovery CD purpose? How much does this cost?
RNfromTN … if I only had a dollar for every time that a couple of friends over at the MyOpera Community have tried to get me to switch to Linux. ;D
I don’t want to go through THAT much hassle.
I want to be able to use ALL the Apps that I use now.
I don’t want to have to be looking for Linux equivalents.
I don’t want to have to be using Wine or whatever for TRYING to install Windows Apps, which then end up with questionable functionality.
That’s true, Bob.
As long as it doesn’t say at the end, “You either proceed … or it’ll cost you $50.00 to exit this process.” :o ;D Okay, I’ll eventually find out.
