Delta Search_WebCake has infected my laptop

What’s worrying me is I’m not sure how this has happened. The only thing I can think of is it sneaked in during and update for Adobe Flash?
I’ve followed the instruction online removing or disabling delta/webcake in the browser add-ons and extensions, manage search engines. With add and remove programs the ‘delta’ has been removed but ‘webcake’ refuses to budge, when I click uninstall I get a prompt ‘set up initialisation error’. Please help.

run AdwCleaner / Malwarebytes / OTL. and attach logs

Do I uncheck LOP and Purity and scan all users?

just leave as is and paste in the fix and click run fix… as this is a fix run

I’m with you, thanks

The first log appeared when I rebooted after the 'fix and the second long was as a result of the quick scan.

Looks to have gone, any problems outstanding ?

It still appears to be there. When I open a new tab in Firefox it opens the delta search page

OK that is a problem with chrome, I believe this may be the answer although I do not have Chrome myself

Go to extensions and disable the search engine the tab page is coming up to. its in setting and to the left. Or just delete the whole thing in extensions too! hope this helps!

OK me totally numpty and I cannot read

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

[]Right-mouse click JRT.exe and select “Run as Administrator” the tool will open and start scanning your system
[
]please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system’s specifications
[]On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
[
]post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Thanks done.

OK that gave me a chance to check FF out as I do not use that either

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:

Wow that worked beautiful.

Glad to hear, any further problems ?
