Hi, I’ve got an issue where around 30 PC’s were improperly built out and have an abnormally small C: drive partition (~700MB) and a large D: partition where Windows is installed. Due to several homegrown apps space on the C: drive is at premium… by default Avast installs to the C: on a deployment job and I cannot figure out how to change it!
I really need to be able to install Avast to D: drive with a deployment job.
It’s probably something easy that I’m missing but any help would be appreciated!
I would consider biting the bullet and reconfiguring those computers with a single drive partition. Trying to work around this isn’t worth it because Windows should have a decent amount of free space left for things like updates, defragmentation, and normal everyday use. There are many programs out there that don’t allow the user to change the installation path.
With that said you may be able to find an .ini file that you can modify to change the client install path.
im with Paul on this one.
Since you say a 700MB C: partition i assume you have windows XP or lower.
One really really nasty way is to tell windows the PROGRAM FILES directory is on the D: partition. This would mean everything that looks for that folder will end up on the D: partition, but since you have a running environment already it will probably beak more then you want.
Reconfiguring the partitions is the best option.
You can use GPARTED live cd for this, depending on how many clients your talking about.
