Im trying to do a deployment to our company domains workstations, and most of them went smoothly, but this windows 7 professional desktop just will not deploy the avast. it keeps giving me notice:
07/01/10 16:13:10: rinstInstall begin
07/01/10 16:13:10: Init 50 60 C:\Windows\TEMP\asw9AD2.tmp C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\InstPkgs NULL C:\Windows\TEMP\asw9AD1.tmp 0
07/01/10 16:13:10: Store
07/01/10 16:13:10: Domains: retermia,
07/01/10 16:13:10: Init RETERMIA\TYOASEMA-RIKU2
07/01/10 16:13:10: TYOASEMA-RIKU2: install already in progress
07/01/10 16:13:10: TYOASEMA-RIKU2: Finished with error
07/01/10 16:13:10: TerminateAll
07/01/10 16:13:11: rinstInstall end 87
I have firewall completely down in the desktop. Also it had previous avast install (like most of our workstations). I tried removing the install after a couple of tries, but it did not change anything. Always keep getting that error instantly when i try to run deploy task. ADSM task says: Failed (Access denied) in the status.
Did the removal tool, and it did not help. Same message right away when i start deployment task.
Also have network discovery and print sharing on. I also have opened the required ports in the windows fire wall.
Just got 60 brand new Dell’s in my lab at one of my jobs. It’s very strange but I have the same problem. about 90% took the install just fine, and the others are giving me “Access Denied” messages.
I can’t tell you what to check just yet, I’ll have to do some more work on my own to figure out what the heck is going on.
Its so weird because they are the exact same machines, with the exact same Dell image on them (as far as I know) and only a few give problems.
I’ll get back to you soon.
Also, I have had limited success in just trying over and over again on the same machine, and I got one to actually install correctly. Didn’t have enough time to keep doing it to the others yet.
???
I didn’t have time to mess around with getting the installations done with everything else going on at work and the limited time that I had, so I just created a manual installation MSI file that I dropped onto a flash drive and installed on the remaining few computers that didn’t seem to want to cooperate.
After installation, they seemed to do just fine. They picked up the AMS server and appeared in the ADNM console just as they should have.
I really don’t know why some Win7 machines can give problems when others can’t, especially when they’re the same exact machine, on the same network, with the same image, with the same configuration, but all I can hope is that it’ll be fixed with the new version 5.1 coming out soon.
If you want a quick work-around, just do a manual MSI install. Worked for me.
