Think I may have a new virus or malware that Avast hasn’t picked up on.
My desktop (explorer) keeps restart at different intervals of anything up to 30 seconds. I can reload it manually and load other programs through Task Manager (Ctrl, Alt, Del, New Task - Explorer). The active program continues to work despite the explorer restarts.
I’m running Windows XP. I have Avast Antivirus installed, upto date and running. I’ve ran a boot time scan and used System Restore. Nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?
Used google to find a program called ComboFix.exe. Downloaded it to my Desktop, closed all open windows, ran ComboFix, typed “1” to continue scan. DID NOT touch the computer until the scan had completed. The PC restarted. Had a blank screen when the PC rebooted, so restarted the PC with CTRL+ALT+DEL (twice). Entered Safe Mode. ComboFix completed and loaded its log reported. Used CCleaner to delete junk files and clean the registry.
Another blogger suggested deletion of bxsbang.dll and ocgrep.dll but I couldn’t find these on my system.
