Recently I am unable to create a Shortcut on my Windows 7 Desktop. Right Click, New, Shortcut, all work, but once field is filled, NEXT does not work. This seems to have started after recent Avast! Free renewal and update. I am using Firefox, and Avast! Antivirus 2014 Free. Anyone else having this problem? Solution??? Thanks…
I have just made a couple of shortcuts from programs using the same method and all works as it should for me. Sorry can’t help further. 
Are you able to make a shortcut on your desktop by clicking the program and sending it to desktop (create shortcut) ?
Not able to SEND To, as I am working with a website link. I was able to drag to Desktop, and did create a Shortcut that way. However, I still have the same problem for the future, and wonder what’s going on here. Thanks for the feedback Rohugh, it is much appreciated.
OK, works with web links for me as well. Just try disabling the Avast! shields (right click tray icon and choose “avast shields control” ) and disable for a short time, then see if you can make a shortcut.
