For the last two days I can no longer track or check status of any of my Android devices as I get the message:
WE ARE SORRY, BUT DETAILED INFORMATION FOR DEVICE … IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE
These are a mix of mostly Android 7 but also 8. I’ve also already re-installed Avast on a couple as they had issues with virus definitions not downloading which a re-install fixed.
As this affected all devices from the same point it looks like a server side issue so when is it going to be fixed?
Hi, yes, there was a server side problem, to fix things just turn the Anti-Theft off and on again in Avast Mobile Security. However, all affected users will probably lose their command history.
I’ve tried everything I can think of, removing devices from online control, reconnecting and still I cannot get tracking to work due the “we cannot connect to your device” error.
Hi, the feature should work fine now; if experiencing problems, please check the following:
Whether the Location is activated in “Android Settings–Location (must be ON)”
Whether the Avast Mobile Security has a location permission in “Android Settings–Apps–Avast Mobile Security–Permissions–Location must be ON”
Whether the location works for other apps (if not, it helps to turn the GPS off and on again)
If none of these steps helps, you can try to reinstall ALL your Avast apps (there is a known bug - when multiple Avast apps are installed on a device and very often reinstalled, like 50 times, a communication error occurs, clean reinstall helps).
Thanks for the help but I’ve checked those details and they are correct. As a final go I re-installed all Avast apps and then when reconnecting the anti-theft part of the app I get an “Authentication failed. Sorry” message.
I’ve had so many issue with Avast around licensing and installation year on year that I’ve had enough - its time to buy another product for my mobile devices.
