Device password leak??

Hello, I just got thru subscribing to Avast for 2 years (at sale price 70% off.) Already I got the warning about “Device password leak.” I’m told “all devices on this network are at risk”, “more vulnerable to attacks,” etc. then it says to “close the open port in this device’s admin settings.” And “go to router settings.” I go there and try to give a username. I gave the name of my local area network which ought to be sufficient. And my password/security key. These are not accepted. I tried giving the name I dubbed my computer. Still not accepted. So what should I do?

I’m inexperienced and kind of lost at the moment. My security key was given me by the local telco whose ITs came over to install my latest modem/router, and I don’t feel confident about changing that.

Advice?

If this is a fairly new Router/Modem and you’re comfortable with your internet service provider being able to access it, then I wouldn’t worry about the warning.
In a paid version of Avast, you can also turn off most of those sales related popups by going to your privacy settings. You can get to those settings by opening the User Interface then select Menu> Settings> Personal Privacy.
Here’s a screenshot of my privacy settings which should help,

You’ll notice I only have one item checked and it’s under Improvements.
