Please how do I prevent this ?
Sugestions appreciated.

Welcome.
Your firewall says nothing? Please, can you say to us what firewall are you usung and some system specs? (OS, Firewall, DialUp or ADSL or Cable, etc.)
avast! doesn’t dial out or connect to the internet unless a connection exists. In the program settings, Update (Basic), you can download Virus Database and Program update automatically, but this can only happen when an Internet connection has been established; either you or another program initiating the connection would allow avast to check for updates.
Thank you folks.
As soon as the A blue ball appears, bottom right, it rotates and the dial out starts.
Just finished building this PC for a very old friend. All my friends are very old!
Using ME, PC Cyrix 6x86MX, 95ram. No firewalls or others, just AVAST home.
First boot up after the install it dials out. Previously I clicked on to the Internet Explorer “Blue e” when I wanted to go on line.
I thought it might have been due to Microsoft Update coming on so I deleted it. Still happens.
Looks like AVAST is initiating something. Any more ideas folks
Regards Geryhatric
avast! can’t initiate anything… it does not dial, it does not cancel connections (themselves).
Can you post your proxy settings? Left click the avast icon > Settings > Update (Basic) > Details > Proxy
How is your browser settings for both proxy and connection?
As soon as the A blue ball appears, bottom right, it rotates and the dial out starts. All that is indicating is that avast is scanning a file/s not that it is trying to dial out.
You need to identify what program is initiating the dial-up. Many programs have auto check for updates, news, etc. etc. Firefox I think has 3 or 4 items that it would like to check, program, extensions and news that are by default set-up to connect. Other programs are likely to have a similar action.
Check your firewall logs to see the outbound connections.
Edit: Oops, just seen the no firewalls bit - that is a definite no, no you/they need the protection of a firewall. Not least for this sort of thing checking the logs can be a useful analysis tool.
Friend Geryhatric, I appreciate your friendship for old persons (you are a rare kind of man, compliments!) but - please - protect their computers with a good and simple firewall!
Ciao!
I suggest, since it is a non-XP pc and low on resources you have a look at this firewall: http://www.agnitum.com/download/outpost1.html
