Maybe the patch fixed some WMF things the Hotfix did not, or maybe they are just different names.

I’d put it this way: the solution is rather obvious, so it’s not that surprising that two parties come with basically the same fix. As already explained elsewhere, this vulnerability is not really a bug, but rather a feature (that shouldn’t be there). So, the solution is simply to remove this feature - there’s not much else to do.
Are you suggesting bill waited for someone else to create a solution then rebranded it with M$ badge. :o Shock horror

it’s not exactly copy even it’s similar … also i suggest read comments on that blog entry …
MS already suprised with being able release tested patch to wide range of systems whole week earlier than it was first announced …
