disable anti-spam

I want to use the avast! firewall but not the anti-spam feature.

Is there a right way to turn it off?

If I just click the stop button, my tray icon changes to a warning sign and a tooltip tells me my computer is not protected. If something really goes wrong, I won’t know by the icon because it will always look like that as long as anti-spam is off.

Thanks for any help!

Uninstall avast! then proceed to reboot.

Now run avast! installer. Upon installation, select Custom then click Next. Uncheck the component you do not want then proceed to the next prompts.

Disable the setting for it (see screenshot) or go to add/remove programs, choose avast and then change and uninstall antispam at all.

No need to uninstall… you can remove it with the installer.

Perfect! Thanks for the quick replies.

I went to “Programs and Features” (like Add/Remove Programs in XP) and chose “Change” instead of “Uninstall”. It was not necessary to uninstall and start over.

ETA: Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t think the screenshot above is quite relevant to the problem at hand. Even if the status bar settings affect the tray icon also, I don’t see anything about the anti-spam feature.

Nope. It’s from AIS. But I have not installed Antispam from the beginning.

Yeah, I saw it too late :-[

Ah! If you do have the module installed (I reinstalled it to see) you can disable it with the stop button in the anti-spam tab, and then in the settings dialog under the “Status Bar” tab, you can uncheck “Antispam” and your tray icon will be unperturbed.

I clumsily attach a screengrab png.

Thanks again!
