disable AVAST in how mode ?

i whant to use the programm to save a HDD …Photorec
but this programm say for run that i suspend the antivirus!

in how mode i put on stand-by for a moment AVAST ?

go to Windows services and stop Avast services from there.

sure ??? i think not work in your mode !

There is no need to disable your antivirus for installing or copying any software on to your HDD. I would rather doubt such applications. Go ahead and install or copy your software while avast is on.

I wouldn't do it if it was me. But if you are aware of the consequences, here is how to do it(See pic):
  1. Right click avast tray icon
  2. Avast! shield control > Disable for 10 mins or one hour.
  3. Re-enable after your job is done.

I don’t see the reason for that… Is avast detecting Photorec as a threat?

Disable the Self defense mode. then turn off shields and kill any processes in task magager. If this is cloning software it may cause problems with antivirus running. Another option might be to run from safe mode. When I make an image with Acronis I always boot from the rescue disk.

No. Bad advice!
PhotoRec is file data recovery software designed to recover lost files.
Why would the user need to disable avast and self defense module?

Well the software maker recommends turning off antivirus. If it it’s a dying HD you may not have too many chances to recover data before it dies. I know it’s a hot button issue for many here to never consider turning off AV. Sometimes it does cause problems with complex software. I have to turn it off in VMware guest when updating tools or there are problems. So I turn it off and disconnect from web when updating the actual VM Workstation software and Acronis software.

Joe, bad software requires you disable the antivirus. Bad software, not well programmed, give you bad advices
