Disable Avast Self-Defense for Firefox 3?

I installed the 9/25 version of Avast Home Free on my WinXpPro SP2 machine.
Lockups, freezing etc. a problem as soon as I loaded Firefox into system (after Avast).
Reinstalled both programs. Problem duplicated 3 times. Could not remove Avast except in Safe Mode.

Only when I DISABLED the Avast Self-Defense module was I able to run both programs without errors.

Comments from anyone?

Abit AI7 board
No other anti-virus OR malware programs installed

Did you have any in the past in this computer? Which one?
Which firewall do you use?

Please, post the last 200-250 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log

This probably isn’t helpful…but I didn’t think the Home Free edition has self-protection. Are you actually using an upgraded version of avast?

Yes it has. It’s there as the same as the Pro version.
