How do I disable Avast to scan outlook incomming mail?

Why can’t it scan incoming email or is there a specific reason ?
Is the avast plug-in disabled ?
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
The outlook/exchange provider in avasts on-access scanners can disable it if absolutely required.
