Disable Popup Mailchecker "Virus Found..."

Hi.
Whenever Avast Home finds a virus (Outlook 2003, Win XP SP3), it first asks what to do (big popup), I klick delete, and then a second (smaller) popup comes, I have to klick again.

How can I realize a silent mode, or get rd of these popups?

Thx,
Mike

Well if you are using the Outlook/Exchange provider you have much greater control over what action are taken, see image.

Silent mode is in the Advanced section of the Outlook/Exchange, Customize…, that moves it to the chest, I don’t know if you get any alert on that or the previous option as I don’t use MS Outlook.

There are further automated actions in the Pro version, that is one of the restrictions of the home version, interactive input requirement.

Hi.
Thx.

I checked the middle button “discard…” - no change.
If I check the lower button “move it…”, I have to enter mailinfos, like a pop password etc.

Thats to complicated with 5 mail.

As I said I don’t use Outlook so can’t comment, surely if you enter a mail box (create on, suspect, etc.) it should move it there for all detected emails regardless of origin.

However, this may be the limitation of the free home version kicking in over the more flexibility of the Pro version, but I can’t speak from experience as I neither use Outlook or the Pro version.

You can try the Silent Mode in the Advanced section as I said, but I don’t know if there would be any difference or not.

You may consider having a mail pre scanner, I use MailWasher which is primarily for anti-spam but it does pick up some viruses also. What it does do is enable you to check a limited part of the email and it would flag spam and some viruses would also be caught in that trap also, but it also allows you to mark for deletion.

When done you select process mail, it deletes those flagged for deletion from the email server and calls your email program to download what remains.

You will set only once into avast Outlook plugin.
The answer Yes in Silent Mode keeps the virus in the file or into the message (attach) and continue the scanning. You can’t configure ‘delete the infected file’ in the Home version.
