Disable resident protection

I’m using avast home Edition 4.7.

Can I configure permanently “Disable” on resident Protection?
“off” of resident protection is always changed automatically to “ON” after next PC start up.

I would like to submit the “resident protection” when I feel a necessity virus check anytime without uninstall avast.

Well, I don’t know why you would want to do that. ??? ??? The on access scanner providers be disabled by left clicking the “a” icon, selecting the provider you want to terminate, click terminate. A pop up will ask if you want the change to persist, say yes. That provider will not start at bootup. The start buttom will become available.

Set avast services to manual load:
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

I suppose you have to have four avast! services:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe (avast! antivirus service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv.exe (avast! Update Service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner service)

Well… you could make some mess with these changes, besides the fact you won’t have resident protection.
Are you intending to use other antivirus at the same time in this computer?

Indeed I have confirmed that “disable” on resident protection based on above advice.

Basically I think that an issue on wether any application is resident or not should be based on the PC administrator. Of cause I know that always resident protection is better!! However PC resources and performance are depending on Armin’s circumstance and policy.
