We have a small company and users are reporting that the update pop up notification and sound file saying “Avast virus database has been updated” is annoying them and would like it disabled.
How can I disable this in the AEA console so it can be pushed out to all clients?
I couldn’t find anything in the computer group properties (which is where I’m controlling other things like password protecting the settings etc…).
If I need to use the custom ini file, can someone tell me the settings to put in the custom ini file as I haven’t been able to find documentation on it.
I would still like the pop ups to appear for everything EXCEPT the update notifications (for instance URL block pop up is still wanted), so selecting silent/gaming mode wouldn’t be an option as that suppresses all notifications and not just the update notifications.
I know via the GUI you could achieve this via settings>Updates>Details>Show notification box after automatic update and you can also disable the sound part via settings>sounds>Events>Automatic update, but I just want to know how I can manage this centrally from the AEA console.
From AEA console, right click on the komputer group select properties on the Policies: avast! Antivirus select Silent/Gaming Mode. Check mark the Silent/Gaming Mode then OK.
Store the configuration to the group, by right click on the group then select Apply to Group
it will update all the client on the group and it will take a few minute depend on how many PC on that group
Thanks for your responses. The “SoundsEnabled=0” setting is definitely helpful and one I’ve incorporated. If you ever find a way on how to suppress the automatic update pop ups (without having to visit every computer individually), that would be great.
As mentioned, the silent/gaming option isn’t really an option fore me as that will suppress genuine malware/virus warnings. I want these to still appear to the user so they’re aware why web pages are not loading or that they need to seek IT help, just not the automatic update pop ups.
The settings I want to control are available on the client (turn off automatic update pop ups only etc…), but strangely not on AEA console, which is a bit rubbish as you can control most of the other settings from here. Hopefully someone will come up with the relevant ini settings to tweak to control these.
In the first dialog box above (Popups: AEA8-beta-01.JPG) I have set Info and Update popups to 0 seconds. Will this stop them from appearing, or is there another way?
