Why doesn’t Avast disable it’s updating functions also when I select “Stop On-Access Protection”?? When I’m going to play a game on-line and want to minimize all CPU/broadband hogging progs, I’ll have to go to Avast settings and disable updates manually - or else it will get updates in the middle of the game and cause terrible lag! And of course sometimes I forget to disable/enable updates before/after playing, which is annoying. Please, fix this…
You can fix this problem selecting check full screen application option. To do this right click on the avast icon and select program settings in that goto troubleshooting section and select the “check for full screen application(e.g. games) before displaying popups” this should solve your problem
thank you
Oh, thnx. If that disables whole update process during gaming and doesn’t cause any lag in game then I’m happy.
As far as I know this option disables only the pop-up window(in case that an application is working in full screen mode) after the update and it doesn’t disable the whole update process. The only way I know to disable the whole update process is from the program options (in “Update” section, like you said)
If you set the update to manual you’re avoid automatic updates.
You could ‘disable’ or set to manual the Update service.
I can’t believe that… avast updates are very fast, reliable and won’t cause a ‘terrible’ lag in a DSL (or any other permanent connection).
maybe his lag is caused by the info popup (which stays in background) …
please check Your “Program settings > Update(basic) > Details” section to either disable that popup completely
and/or set it to detect D3D/OpenGL application running in “Program settings > Troubleshooting” …
I’ve noticed slight “chop” every time the sliding box appears even if I’m not playing or watching movie clips etc. Can’t it be done in some “lighter” way? ;D I don’t mind knowing when databases are updated so I’d like to keep that notice enabled.
When hosting a server in a game my users get lag when avast! updates as well I am on Wireless but the internet service is T1 speed.
