Hi, I would like to temporarily disable Avast in order to run, with the help of a technician, ComboFix. Could someone please tell me how to achieve this please?
In the following link I read that I should click on the icon in the systems tray and choose (Stop On-Access Protection), but I dont seem to have that.

Right click on the avast ball and scroll over avast shields control.

Just click on disable until system is restarted or disable permanently, just remember to turn it back on with the latter.

Sorry, I forgot to include the link that presumably provided the wrong info.

It wasn’t the wrong info if you were using the 4.8 version, that topic is nearly 4 years old.

Thanks for that Craigb, the link was supplied to me by a technician helping to get rid of some nasties on my computer. I will now pass on your, more up-to-date info to him.
