I have a program called Timely Web (www.timelyweb.com) which I use to notify me of Web page changes. I have it configured to send me e-mails and these arrive with attachments with an mht extension. However, Avast keeps flagging these as suspicious. Can I set it to always ignore these attachments?
You could try adding timelyweb.com to the Permited URLs of Internet Mail - Heuristics Tab and see if that permits emails from timelyweb.com.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give it a go and see what happens.
The suggestion doesn’t work I’m sorry to say. This came in this evening:-
Very suspicious extension of attachment

Sender: Timely Web timelyweb@valencia.plus.com
Recipient: email@valencia.plus.com
Subject: Web Page or Software Updated
It is a legitimate e-mail that I want to receive. If there were a way to disable scanning of .mht files (it worked in BitDefender 8 [my previous virus scanner) it ought to solve the problem.
You need to enter this as permitted URL:
timelyweb@valencia.plus.com
or use just:
@valencia.plus.com
if you want to exclude all senders from this mail domain (not recommended).
Thanks.
Done, but look what happened this evening:-
I forgot, here is a screenshot of my permitted URL’s:-
Oh,that won’t work. The exclussion is only for iFrame and not to exclude senders emails… maybe you wanna add this one to wish list
Can you not receive the notification in another format, rather than .mht ?
I don’t think so. The only settings I can change with relation to the e-mail notifications are shown in the screenshot below. How do I add this to the official wish list?
What is under the templates button or on the timelyweb support/FAQ? Since .mht can only be viewed by IE or IE based browsers, so there must be some other format to support non-ie browsers.
See screenshot.
I was kind of hoping that the file type of the attachment would be able to be changed to .htm/l or .txt, unfortunately it doesn’t look like it.
If you uncheck this optin, won’t it work?
I’ve no idea. I’ll try your suggestion and let you know when Timely Web sends me another update notification. Thanks.
