I received an Avast pop up advising me to disable IMAP in my Gmail account
as Avast 7 Free couldn’t scan for viruses unless I did. The problem is that I have to enable IMAP in my Gmail account in order for it to connect to Thunderbird which is my default email service. I also have a Road Runner account (pop3) and they are both connected to Thunderbird. I’d like my email to be protected but don’t want to change the way the email accounts are connected to Thunderbird. Any suggestions?
you mean disable SSL
avast can not scan mail accounts using encrypted SSL/TLS connection
this is just a avast warning and you now have two options…
you can ignore it and turn off the avast SSL pop up in avast mail settings…
or you can sett avast up so it can scan your mail account…
Google is protecting all Gmail accounts using postini spam/virus filter using two av engines from Authentium and McAfee, so all mails are already scanned before you recive them
