Hello. Since we have installed Avast, I cannot view a text box on a specific web page (the text box is similar to this text box that I’m writing in… it is just not on the page).
Any ideas?
It shouldn’t… apparently it shouldn’t be connected to avast.
Maybe you can post more info: your operational system, browser and addons, other security programs, old antivirus (before avast)…
I have windows XP. I’m using internet explorer. No other security program changes, and had Norton beforehand. I have avast version 5.0.507 (the free one), so there is no firewall (and therefore no application rules) settings to change.
Now what?
The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2003-2010 products from your computer.
- (If possible) Remove Symantec products through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
- Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 or Norton Removal Tool for Windows 98/Me. Boot.
- Install avast! (or repair the installation) and boot.
Norton has already been uninstalled.
Yes, but it is notorious for leaving remnants behind as this forum attests, it has many such occurrences. So I suggest you try the removal tool.

And please get a firewall of some kind … a 2-way firewall would be best.
