Discovery task does not work anymore

My ADNM Server (Window Server 2003 SP2, ADNM version 4.8.975) does not find computers on our network anymore.

I have a discovery task that is scheduled to run every evening except for one so a scan of the computers can be performed. This scheduled task had been working fine until we re-booted the server this past week. Now it only finds 2 workgroup computers. We have about 100 workgroup computers and another 500 computers across 8 domains.

The only changes that has been made to this server is we updated our license file a couple of months ago and this didn’t have an affect on the discovery task, and we installed a managed version of avast! NetServer Edition (which is why we re-booted the server).

Any thoughts on why this is happening and how I can fix it?

This is weird. I came in this morning and checked the discovery task and it worked???. It found all the computers on the network. I wish I could say that I did something to fix this but I didn’t. What the heck is with that??? It hasn’t worked for a week and then all of a sudden it works!!! I’m baffled so if anyone has any idea why I’d be interested to know.

How are you running the discovery task?

Do you have it scan the network, or pull data from Active Directory?

If it’s set to scan the network, maybe you had some browsing issues on your network, and it didn’t find anything. You could run a ‘net view’ command to see what computers show up.

I run a network scan. It could have been a browsing issue although it’s working fine now. If it happens again I’ll try new view. Thanks
