Disk E error some files could not be scanned - error 87 & error 21

I have been having this come up for a long time now on my scans and had my Windows crash a few times also I have a Dell Laptop using Windows 10
Did a disk check from properties and all seemed fine. Is this something I should worry about or can fix? Last time my windows crashed it had something to do with Disk E had something missing to work if I remember correctly.

I saw previous posts in topic ask to upload log after running Farbar recovery scan, I did the scan but cant see how to attach them here.

Disk E error some files could not be scanned - error 87 & error 21
Is this message from avast? what reason does avast give for not scanning, post a screenshot

How do I handle files that Avast can’t scan? > https://blog.avast.com/2014/02/28/how-do-i-handle-files-that-avast-cant-scan/

I did the scan but cant see how to attach them here.
Below the box you write in > Attachments and other options

Thank u! I attached the Logs and snap shots of recent scans.

The rest of attachments…

is disk E a external drive? is it connected when scanning?

the error in last pic “The system can not find…” is usually gone after a reboot and new scan

A log expert is notified, it may take hours before he is online

Thank you! not sure if external or not… regarding last scan was on just Drive C not long before posting this.

Error 87 = The parameter is incorrect.
This can relate to logical locations rather than physical location, may be related to windows shortcut names

As Pondus said, is this an external drive.
As Error 21 = The device is not ready. This would be unusual if it weren’t an external drive location.

When you say your not sure if this is external or not, I would suggest that it isn’t as having a second hard drive, external to the main system by a USB connection (etc.) would be obvious.

In your AvastUI > Scan > select the scan you did - scroll down to - Scan Settings > Sensitivity > Links.
Do you have the ‘Follow links during scan’ option selection ?

No the follow links is not checked.

and you are correct, I dont have another external drive or anything connected to the computer.

I will try a boot scan now and see what happens.

That is a bit of a shame, as that option has on occasion resulted in ‘The parameter is incorrect’ files can’t be scanned indication.

E could be the drive letter of the CD/DVD drive, card reader, USB stick etc.

Thank you everyone, Maybe it was that I had a CD in disk E DVD/CD. Anyway last nights scan was fine.

You’re welcome, hopefully that was the cause of the inability to scan.
