Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for Disk imaging software, Free if possible, but I am also willing to pay.
I’m wanting to try some beta software, and it would be less of a problem if I could burn an image of my disk to DVDs so I could restore it if needed. (instead of having to reinstall everything). This if for a Windows Vista system
I have been very happy with Acronis True Image (but I am an XP user) and I use it in tandem with (sorry to mention the current owner) Norton Goback.
A couple of my Vista users have paid for Rollback Rx which combines some similar to Goback (ie very quickly revert your hard drive to a checkpoint you have taken manually or automatically) along with some of the disk imaging functions similar to Acronis.
Well, i’m not a friend of Symantec, hehehe, but i must to say i use Norton Ghost. I installed the program, i did a backup of my system(a fresh install of XP, drivers of sound and graphics). I saved that backup in a little partition, i uninstalled NG. If i need format my PC, with Norton Boot CD i reinstall all windows in 5 minutes.
I am very happy.
I have Acronis True Image.
I use Acronis Disk Director to full partition backup. Lasts a little more, but it’s safer imho (files in use, snapshots errors, etc.).
Hi everyone!
I post here not to start a new topic, my problem is a little bit different 'cause I don’t look for a disk imaging software: I use DriveClone pro wich bring me satisfaction.
In fact I’ve got a small pb with DriveClone E-mail notification: Always the same popup telling me that the notification E-mail test failed…
I don’t understand 'cause my smtp configuration is OK: for evidence I use the same parameters with Cobian backup and I receive notification E-mails from it without any pb…
I tried Macrium Reflect Free http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp and liked it very much. Most of the Acronis True Image features (except incremental backups) at no cost. And it seems to run significantly faster. Tried the Linux boot disk for compatibility on both Vista and Windows 7. Does the usual attach and browse and verification features for the image. I am still using ATI on my older Vista computers, but Reflect Free with Windows 7. Highly recommended.
