dllhost.exe*32 com surrogate opening many times in task manager

I have a problem with getting constant virus attacks, which Avast! blocks, but with each attack multiple dllhost.exe*32 instances open in task manager, until cpu usage reaches 100% and eventually overloads my dsl modem, causing it to restart. I have tried Avast!(pro), AVG, malwarebytes, tdskiller, SmartPCFixer, AdwCleaner, and Microsoft Fix It. Nothing has worked, although my computer is running super fast due to all the cleaning, at least until this URL:Mal hits. I read some of your other posts, and I will attach the logs that you had others do.

I’m sorry that I did not see the information topic when I did my search. Here are the malware bytes, and 2 frst logs. The aswMBR scan is still running. The malware bytes scan found nothing, but I had just run it again yesterday.

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST and press fix
On completion reboot
A log will be on the desktop please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

FINALLY

Download Eset service repair to your desktop
Run the programme and accept the elevation request
Once it has completed it will ask for a reboot, allow it to do so
After the reboot there will be a CC Support folder on the desktop
Open that and go to the logs folder there will be a report please post that

Ok, aswmbr would not finish its scan, even though I stopped and restarted it, and then ran it all night long. I ended up having to stop it(it was frozen) and I created a log file from what it had. I have run FRST with your fixlist. It also would not complete, even after allowing it to run for over 2 hours. I had to stop it with task manager. I am attaching the fixlog that it created. I will continue with your other instructions and will give you those logs shortly. If I need to go back and try to repeat anything, or do anything differently, just let me know.

Did you run the ESET repair tool ? if so could I see the log

Download and run farbar service scanner

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/fssscan.JPG

Tick “All” options.
Press “Scan”.
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Ok, here are the AdwCleaner and ServicesRepair logs. I think you may have fixed the problem with the FRST fix, even though it didn’t finish on its own. Throughout this whole process I have had to have task manager open the whole time in order to kill all of the dllhost.exe’s opening up. I probably shut down more than a hundred. Since the fix, I have not had to shut any down, and they appear to be behaving normally and shutting themselves down after they perform their tasks. Thank you so much for your help in this. Ok, got your new post while typing this, and here is the fss.txt too.

Looks good now, any further problems ?

No problems at all! You guys/girls are awesome! Thanks so much for the help. I always had trouble deciding on antivirus software, but not any more. I’ve uninstalled all the others, and will go with Avast!

Good choice, but then I am biased

You will need to fully remove AVG using the removal tool. If you wish I can guide you through that and assist in setting up Avast to get the most from it

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version

Then click on Finish
Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked, this is a fire and forget programme

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

I did everything you recommended, down to the CryptoPrevent, but then turned CryptoPrevent off, because it removed all my access to windows explorer, internet explorer, and several other icons I use. I don’t want to be protected from myself, because I know enough not to mess around with things I don’t understand. Still no problems with any more malware.

No problem, enjoy
