Dns hijacking with avast 16.2?

hi there. i just updated to avast 16.2, rebooted the pc and avast network scan reported a dns hijacking happening…. and sure enough the dns my pc was sending requests to was “15.161.99.28” instead of the Quad9 ones. so i opened perfmon and saw that the only exe with a connection with that ip was avast itself! after uninstalling avast my pc resumed using the quad9 dns as normal.

anyone else with this problem? is it a bug or someone sneaked a dns hijacker in avast 16.2? It only happened after updating.

Are you sure you mean 16.2 and not 26.2 as in the signature below my post ?

i’m sorry, i uninstalled before taking note of the version. it was the last one though, at least as of the time of the posting.

I thought that may be the case, unfortunately there isn’t a way for you to gather information and or images of the problem. So others can try and investigate.

sorry but i’m not trusting leaving the latest version of avast installed for now. i hope someone else can be more helpful…
