DNS warning

At least once / day a warning popup window appears.

Warning !

Your DNS settings have been modified. Accept changes or restore original saved settings?

Can anyone shed any light on this

Thanks, Bob

a screenshot of the pop up would help

have you run a quick scan with avast and Malwarebytes (make sure they are updated first) ?
also run AdwCleaner as this will remove any browser/toolbar crap if you have any…

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Ran Avast & malwarebytes, no help.

in the other topic you post …you say you only have 2 of 8 shields?
what do you mean…not turned on or not installed?

not installed. Just saw them in the tutorial

Bob

then i guess you did a custom install and decided not to install them for whatever reason you had ::slight_smile:

Not at all !

then reinstall and see if that fix it

or try avast repair first

controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall > repair option > wait some minutes and reboot

If that means just logging on and reinstall, I will.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

the DNS pop up i don not know…attach a screenshot of it if you can
have notified the malware specialist in case he know…should be online soon

Thanks again.

For the record (using Win7):

.No repair option

.cannot find where to reinstall after uninstall

can install but only after repurchase.

cannot find in Avast any link or connection to the missing real time shields.
Maybe they are not available to anyone ?

It looks like your upgrade/installation was corrupt.

  • Download the latest version of avast Internet Security, 7.0.1466 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.

  • Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for 5.x, 6.0.x and 7.0.x).

    1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 6.x if previously installed and then for 7.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

Note: The default install location for avast is C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast.
Programs & Features, Uninstall/Change

Thanks

Will try that in a couple of hours
