How do i post my logs? each time i do i exceed 10000 charcters.
what log is that…you have attached OTL and aswMBR…is it OTL.extra and MBAM ?
if you have more, make a new reply and attach logs in it…
you can also upload logs to www.mediafire.com and then post the donload link here
I am confused about which logs you have and which that you need from me.
So am i…in your first reply you ask "How do i post my logs? "…yet you have attached OTL.txt and aswMBR.txt so what is the problem ?
AH, ok. I’m sorry i thought i read somwhere that it was prefered that we cut/paste instaed of use the attachment feature. I guess we are good then. thanks
Hi there I can see the problem but I need a stronger tool to remove it
Download and Install Combofix
Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2
VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
- IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
- Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
- Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now
Here is the combofix log. I turned avast back on and i’m not getting the virus warning message when i open a new browser window. I think we have fixed the problem.
But, when i ran combofix… the screen froze on comfix’s message “rebooting windows. warning do not reboot the machine yourself”
The screen stayed on that message for a half an hour and nothing happened. So i turned off the machine with the power button, and turned it back on. Windows opened up normally and combofix ran the log report. Hopefully i did not mess anything up by powering off and restarting. As of now, it seems as tho everything is running fine. Thank you so much for alll of your help
I am considering doing a system restore to get rid of all of the extra progams i downloaded during this virus removal process. If i do that, will the system restore the virus back onto my machine as well?
Thanks again
I am considering doing a system restore to get rid of all of the extra progams i downloaded during this virus removal process. If i do that, will the system restore the virus back onto my machine as well?Essexboy will remove all tools used when he is done.... ;)
He can do that? :o
did i allow remote accesss to my macine somwhere along the way? omg, now i am paranoid. if he can get in my system, than any hacker can get on my system, no?
No I do not have access to your system but I can give the instructions to cleanly uninstall all the tools used ;D
This was the bad boy c:\windows\system32\consrv.dll
If you system restore there is a possibility that you will restore the virus as well.
Subject to no further problems
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

.
Remove ComboFix
.

[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.

Many thanks
No problems ;D
Well i am still having problems. Avast no longer alerts me when i open a new browser window, but it found a virus when i ran a scan. This one was win32:malware-gen.
I am getting really nervous about the security of my interenet connection. This thing just wont go away. Is it stealing passwords and logging keystrokes and that sort of thing? Should i just nuke my hard-drive?
Any recommendations now would be great.
TIA
What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Well here is what it says in the scan log. It doesnt look complete to me but this is all i have
C:/Qoobox/Quarantine/C/Windows/assembl…
Sorry that was from the virus chest. In the scan log it is
C:/Windows/assembly/tmp/kwrd.dll
Well I believe that is something in the combofix quarantine, when combofix is removed that too will be removed.
Did you not remove combofix as suggested by essexboy ?
EDIT: Just seen your reply as the original post indicates it is in the combofix quarantine, so is the above one being detected in this location and not the combofix quarantine ?
If so this will need further intervention by essexboy.
OK that is a quarantined file from Combofix - so it is not a problem. Once you uninstall Combofix and run the cleanup it will disappear. However if it is not in the quarantine folder then I will need to revisit. I am currently running a similar infection which is starting to be a pig to remove (new variant)
No the file name that the scan picked up is C:/Windows/assembly/tmp/kwrd.dll. I then ran a boot time scan (as avast suggests after finding a virus) and that one picked up the C:/Qoobox…
OK Combofix has been updated in the last few hours to combat this - so could you re-run combofix but allow it to update please
Then attach the log
