avast has signatures to detect a lot of adware ans spyware infections but it isn’t a specialist anti-adware/spyware so you should have a t least one anti-spyware tool.
If using winXP AVG anti-spyware (formerly Ewido). Or SUPERantispyware Or Spyware Terminator.
