Do I have OSFirewall?

Does avast! offer osfirewall (operating system firewall), or do I need to download an additional product?

Thanks.

Nope. Avast does not offer a stand-alone firewall. However, Avast Internet Security has a firewall included.

What version of avast are you using?

I’m using the free version. OSFirewall is behavior-based protection that monitors programs and blocks suspicious behavior.
It blocks brand new attacks not yet identified by antivirus by identifying and blocking malicious behavior and protects against hard-to-remove malware affecting the core files of your computer, deeper than the operating system.

Does avast! have anything like that?

avast free has a behaviour shield. It also runs a rootkit scan after windows start.

But as RZPogi says, it has no firewall. You will need to use windows firewall or a third party firewall.

HeavyD You need to download additional firewall.Maybe you should try Comodo Free Firewall or ZoneAlarm Firewall.I think ZoneAlarm is the best free Firewall.I don’t know try it!
Here are some reviews : http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-firewall.htm

The term OSFirewall and the other things you posted sounded familiar. It should, as it was a press release by ZoneLabs.

TBH I deeply believe this OP hasn’t even the faintest idea what he is copying/pasting/typing.

Not very much use discussing things - you’ll only get slammed with promo-trash-headlines copied from other products / sites.

WOT (in this case not web of trust, but waste of time).

Excuse me for trying to protect myself.

As of yesterday, I now use ZoneAlarm Free Firewall. ZoneAlarm informed me they do not provide an OSFirewall and I simply coppied their definition of an OSFirewall so my question would be more clearly understood.

So instead of getting all hung up on the source of my query, how about just answering my question.

Do I need to download an “operating system firewall” to go along with ZoneAlarm, or does avast! already have me covered?

Thanks.

No, you don’t.

I see no added value to Avast BehaviorShield.

This is a new buzz word coined by ZA to make it look as though it is something brand new - but it appears similar to Avasts behaviour shield

new behavior-based strategy to block malware and spyware from

DefenseNet™, a dynamic zero-hour system leveraging the community of millions of ZoneAlarm users to proactively protect against emerging attacks.
Sound familiar ? IQ

Since you have ZoneAlarm installed, ask in their forum.

If you don’t have Avast Internet Security installed, then you don’t have a firewall furnished by Avast, as others have already told you.

Ask ZoneAlarm if avast! offers its customers an OSFirewall?

Look, I don’t expect you to have all the answers. I just expect civility in answering my questions.

Obviously, I don’t know much about computer security. Your choice if you help me or club me over the head for it.

As I said previously - and this is not a knock on the head or anything like that. But I feel they are just reinventing the wheel under a different name. Avast has a behaviour shield and if you are subscribed then the Community is where all new files are uploaded for analysis

Thanks essexboy. Question answered.
