Do I Need Ad-Aware Anymore?

Now that I’ve installed and registered Avast Internet Security 5.0.6… is there any reason that I should continue to use the freeware version of “Ad-Aware”?

What other applications can I disable? The Vista firewall? Windows defender?

I would change Ad-aware for the free version of MBAM.
AIS allow you to disable Vista firewall.
Windows Defender won’t hurt.

Ad-Aware has not kept up with the times and is not worth the hard disk space it consumes and I agree that MBAM free is very good but you have to manually update at least once per day then run its Quick scan.

Keep Windows Defender updated daily with its portal:
Latest definition version: 1.95.1867.0
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions/ADL.aspx

Choose the 32-bit or 64-bit definitions for your system.

you always need something more apart from your antivirus even if that antivirus is Avast internet security…no antivirus can guarantee 100% safety.that’s why we use these freeware “babies” such as ad-aware,superantispyware,mbam etc…i couldnt agree more with tech and yokenny about MBAM(Malwarebytes anti-malware)…ad-aware isnt as good as it used to be so i wouldnt trust it…as for windows defender i update it but i keep it deactivated because i dont want it to get in the way of avast and steal its “meal”…also i want to keep my system the lightest possible…but having it updated and scanning from time to time wont hurt.

Windows Defender does not get in the way of avast! and steal its “meal” on my Windows 7 system and it is one of my Layers of Defence that includes Malwarebytes Full

:o good to know.thanks mate
