Hi, I have been using SafeZone for online banking but I am not totally convinced of how safe it actually is.
I note that there is the facility to add extensions but I am not sure if this is something that will compromise security ? - the only extension I was considering adding is the Google " delete browsing data"
I would also feel safer if Trusteer Rapport or similar was on board in SafeZone.
I would be interested to hear other forum members comments regarding SafeZone banking and Paypal transactions.
The more you have on board as you say, the less secure it would be, the whole point of the safezone is to be completely isolated from your regular desktop.
mag, no I didn’t try actually but presumed you could as the facility was there to do so.
Glad in a way that that’s the case but I would have liked to add an extension to automate clearing of the browser history - click&clean or something like that
The safezone uses the safezone browser, this is a customised version based on the chromium browser.
When you switch to SafeZone, the SafeZone web browser will start automatically. The SafeZone browser is a special browser without any additional components such as "plug-ins" which are often used to distribute spyware.
You can dictate what remains when you keep or discard when you close the safezone.
When you are done, click on the Start menu and select “Turn Off” to close the browser and return to your normal desktop. Your browser settings and any files that you have downloaded will be saved automatically and will be there the next time you open it. If you don't want anything to be saved, click the "Reset SafeZone" button and everything will be deleted. The contents of the SafeZone, including all browser settings, will be reset to their original state.
There’re several significant SafeZone benefits. SafeZone operates on separate desktop, it means any active keyloggers/screen captures/pass stealers/… can’t see what you’re doing/typing in SafeZone browser. SafeZone Browser is using own DNS service, it means webpages are resolved correctly and you’re not forwarded somewhere else to faked web page. SafeZone browser is also executed in avast! sandbox, so it protects you from malwares. Exclusions are disabled, unless you install them manually (and you trust them), e.g. Keypass (pass manager), etc.
