Does ashwebsv.exe go to this site?

Does ashwebsv.exe access this site for it’s checking purposes or is this part of something different?

That remote access of 64-12-145-80 is bugging me.

Does anyone know if it’s part of itunes or is it part of Avast?

You’re frogetting that Web Shield basically just forwards all the requests, thats why you see as it sends them alone… Could be requests by any program that uses HTTP to communicate with something.

Yes, I just haven’t found too much info on how or what ashwebsv did so I thought I would ask you experts. I’ll take another peak at the help files after running a bunch of spyware tools. Thanks.

MarcZ,

the address looks rather like the type of address that would be given to a logged on user of an ISP. Is it possible that you are using a peer to peer client?

Thats just resolved web address. Close all the browsers, wait a bit and then check again. List should be empty.

I don’t use any p2p whatsoever.

RejZor,

I believe you are correct. Will confirm. BUT what also concerned me was in the TCPView window, not the one above, but at a different time it also showed a System Process(0) with a State of Time_Wait going to that same remote address. I guess it could be my Firefox with the Google search button but I don’t know why it would be a TCP resolved to that address. I might just be overly cautious.

Yeah, Firefox does few checkings on webpages (probably for extensions and updates plus search thingie).
