I would like to ask, avast 4.8 now still support it? ??? ???
It is still supported, but soon to be ending by the end of this year. So we are encouraging users to upgrade to version 5.0+. The latest version is 5.0.677. There are beta versions available, but I would encourage you to upgrade to 5.0.677 for now to become familiar with it since v.5.1 is very soon to be released.
Like pk said, tic tac tic tac tic tac… support will end…

I have a lot of shelf computer is windows 98, avast 5.0 does not support the windows 98.
So how do I do
Will there any other software that support windows 98?
Its very hard to find reliable security software for the older windows.
Take a look here: http://www.5starsupport.com/tutorial/security_98_me.htm
i have not money to upgrade windows 7.
So now I also use the windows 98.
My computer’s specs only pentium3 600mhz
I understand that, and the previous poster made an inappropriate response to you by yelling (in caps) in his reply to you despite you telling him your OS more then once.
You can continue to use 4.8 until it is no longer supported. After this time, I believe the only other antivirus that will support Win98 will be ClamWin, but it will not be a resident scanner like Avast. I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I would be happy to help you. Thank you. ![]()
Hello alexyeoh_leo85,
The only suggestion I can give you is to use Spyware Terminator since it has ClamAV (Clam antivirus) build into it. ClamAV is the only antivirus that I know of that works with Windows 98. A few years ago, I tested it for about a year and it seemed ok. Here is what I would do if I were in your place.
== Print or write on paper these instructions before you begin. ==
1 - Download Spyware Terminator but do not install. ( http://www.spywareterminator.com/ )
2 - Download avast uninstaller but do not use. ( http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility )
3 - Disconnect the computer from the internet.
4 - Remove avast4.8 using Add/remove Programs. Then, restart the computer
5 - Use the uninstaller you downloaded in step 2. Then, restart the computer.
6 - Install Spyware Terminator you downloaded in step 1. Restart the computer.
*7 - Make sure you set Spyware Terminator as resident.
*8 - Find ClamAV in Spyware Terminator and set it to resident.
*I do not remember right now, but, if it ask you during installation if you want Spyware Terminator and ClamAV as resident, then answer yes. If it does ask you this, steps 7 and 8 are not needed.
9 - Reconnect to the internet.
Let us know how it goes and if you need more help.
I was wondering the same thing as I’m still running Windows ME and Avast 4 runs great on this platform . The plan is to get a new computer come like April but I need support until then .
