Hello all. I’m finding that occasionally after receiving a virus database update from Avast, my Internet Explorer won’t connect to web pages anymore. Other net apps continue to work, but IE will just stop opening pages. If I shut down Avast, it comes back to life, and stays alive even if I restart Avast, so it seems to be something with the download that upsets is. Does anyone know why this might be, and what I can do about it?
Im having a somewhat similar problem after retrieving an update 18-06-08. When booting the computer it now has become extremely slow for the first 4-5 minutes, and is unable to open any pages in Internet Explorer. After that things seems to go back to normal.
To my best knowledge no other software or updates has been installed around the time where the issues started.
Its also for IE 7 on Windows Vista (Business) 32bit SP1
UPDATE – Existing topic: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=36114.0. Log viewer shows I had avast program updates installed 11-06-08 and 18-06-08. The problems appears to be with the avast version released between these two dates.
I have IE 7 on Windows Vista 32bit SP1 and no problems with avast.
Which firewall do you use? Which other security programs?
Did you have any other antivirus in these computers in the past?
I’m just using Windows firewall and no other AV software. The same Avast SW works fine on my other two XP systems, it’s just this Vista one that seems to struggle!
I’m using Windows firewall and has never been using any other AV software than Avast on this computer since installing Vista about a year ago. It has been working flawless up to the 4.8 update.
